💸 As of 2023, only 3% of women founders in tech(as compared to 82% of men) raised VC funds.
I knew this had more to do than just the number of women entrepreneurs. Here are a few things I discovered:
▶ The % women raising capital has not gone above 3% since 2019.
▶ European VC space is male-dominated with only 16% GPs + a huge gap in the carried interest women VCs receive.
▶ For female founders, fundraising only from female VCs comes at a cost.
▶ Though 65% of VCs indicate that having a diversity & inclusion strategy influences decisions, this is not reflected in female or mixed-gender-led startups, which still represent >11% of total VC investments.
In this episode, Marie-Capucine, Investor, and Partner at Ring Capital – a French VC firm shares insider stories and insights. Here’s something she advocates and it’s worth mentioning:
Reimagine Diversity and Inclusion as 'Community', focusing on shared goals and aspirations beyond the bounds of demography, race, or gender. 💛
Cheers to Women in Tech! 💪🏽
